HL-7
Health Level Seven is one of several American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -accredited Standards Developing Organizations (SDO’s) operating in the healthcare arena. Most SDO’s produce standards (sometimes called specifications or protocols) for a particular healthcare domain such as Pharmacy, Medical Devices, Imaging or Insurance (Claims Processing) transactions. Health Level Seven’s domain is clinical and administrative data. Health Level Seven develops specifications; the most widely used being a messaging standard that enables disparate healthcare applications to exchange key sets of clinical and administrative data.
What Does the Name HL7 Mean? "Level Seven" refers to the highest level of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) communications model for Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) - the application level. The application level addresses definition of the data to be exchanged, the timing of the interchange, and the communication of certain errors to the application. The seventh level supports such functions as security checks, participant identification, availability checks, exchange mechanism negotiations and, most importantly, data exchange structuring.
Prithvi offers expertise in developing/converting existing communication systems into HL-7 formats so as to meet regulatory and legal compliance with either operating entities or Government Agencies.
DICOM
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) is a standard for handling, storing, printing, and transmitting information in medical imaging. DICOM files can be exchanged between two entities that are capable of receiving image and patient data in DICOM format.
