5+ years of experience in Oracle DBA
- Proficient in installing, upgrading, configuring oracle databases on various platforms like Windows, Sun-Solaris, HP-UX, IBM-AIX, Tru-64 Digital Unix.
- Recovering the database in case of any failure. The failure includes loss/damage of data files/redo log files/ control files or even OS crash.
- Applying patches/fixes to the existing database whenever required.
- Familiarity with the concepts of OPS (Oracle Parallel Server), OFS (Oracle Fail Safe), 9i RAC (Real Application Clusters), 9i Data guard etc., that provide better disaster recovery strategies using high availability solutions.
- Cloning of very large databases, with size ranging from 100 – 500 GB.
- Getting the production database refreshed to development and test environments.
- Hands on with distributed database systems having multimaster as well as snapshot replications.
- Hot backup configuration using shell scripts.
- Monitoring the database usage, tablespace growth regularly.
- Oracle Name Server (ONS) maintenance.
- Database performance & memory tuning.
- Provide operational DBA support for database environments running Oracle and MS SQL Server.
- Implement backup and recovery procedures using for Oracle databases and test regularly in conjunction with Operations.
- In conjunction with the security administrator, establish and manage user access, and design and implement user environments.
- Act as liaison between application programmers and DBMS vendor to report and resolve problems.
- Monitor error log(s), database and log space, user activity and resource utilization of production environment. Work with application programmers to insure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations.
- Monitor system resources of database servers to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled in a timely fashion.
- Using software packages and/or local scripts, monitor performance, space, Oracle database parameters and tune as required.
